Assistant General Counsel VA Open (J#39354) Title: Assistant General Counsel Company: Altria Philip Morris Salary: Open Job Description The mission of Altria Group, Inc. is to own and develop financially disciplined businesses that are leaders in responsibly providing adult tobacco and wine consumers with superior branded products. Altria Group is the parent company of Philip Morris USA, the largest cigarette manufacturer in the United States, as well as U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company and John Middleton - recently acquired companies that offer leading brands in the growing moist smokeless tobacco and machine-made cigar categories. Altria Client Services' role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Attorney to join our Law Department at our Center for Research and Technology in Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to Altria Client Services and Altria Group's operating companies, including Philip Morris USA, US Smokeless Tobacco LLC and John Middleton Inc., primarily in support of regulatory matters, and in particular related to the regulation of tobacco products by the Food and Drug Administration. Specific accountabilities include: Advising on legal and regulatory issues including compliance and engagement strategies, FDA issues, and other federal and state laws and regulations Counseling client groups such as regulatory affairs, quality, research and development Coordinating with internal and outside attorneys regarding regulatory and litigation related issues. Managing outside counsel, including project management, effective budgeting and proper allocation of resources.Qualified applicants will: Be a licensed U.S. Attorney and a member of, or eligible for, the VA Bar. Possess a minimum of ten years of experience practicing law in firm, corporate and/or government position(s) specializing in a diverse array of FDA-related pre-market, post-market, policy development, engagement, enforcement and rule-making practice areas, and in particular related to medical devices, drugs or other FDA regulated product areas. Have experience in litigation and administrative actions *Have experience and proven excellence in drafting written submissions to the FDA in connection with the above, briefs for clients, litigation, etc. Have experience and proven excellence in counseling clients at various levels of an organization with varied responsibilities Experience in representing clients in any of the following areas is a plus: Tobacco product legal, regulatory, or litigation experiences Other regulatory expertise At Altria Client Services, we recognize that our people are the reason we achieve our business goals.
